Our chapter is a diverse group of women, all with one common thread - golf. And within that thread, we include all types of golfers from beginners to single digit handicappers. That's a big task to meet all those needs, but I think we are doing exactly that. Check out the rest of this website and you will find programs and events for beginning golfers, events for competitive golfers, and then some purely social gatherings. You will find something that suits your game and where you want it to go.

Guess what? Once you start participating, you will find an extra benefit with the Fort Worth chapter - friendship. Sometimes friendships are made when you least expect it. That happens all the time in this chapter. So don't delay anymore. Come on down and join in the fun of being a member of the Fort Worth EWGA.

Mary Ann Lutz, President

We need to remember the generosity of our sponsors whose sponsorship helps keep our Ft. Worth EWGA Chapter going. Our biggest sponsor this year is USMD Hospitals (Fort Worth and Arlington).

NEWS

Congratulations to the Fort Worth Lone Star Cup team, who finished in second place in Lone Star Cup IX held at Barton Creek Resort 8/26-28. We had our best showing ever, winning over half of our team matches and 75% of our individual matches. Houston won the cup for the second year in a row. Watch for information coming soon on early qualifiers for next year's event to be held 11/3-5 at Squaw Valley in Glen Rose! This year's Lone Star Cup team thanks the Ft. Worth Chapter for their support and Bren Clevenger-Ori and USMD Hospitals in Fort Worth and Arlington for their sponsorship in providing our team shirts!

Come to Boomer Jack's, 2600 W. 7th St., Ft. Worth 76107 on Thursday, September 2, at 5:30 to be a part of the farewell party for Mary Ann Lutz and Terri Baze, who are moving to Oklahoma in September. As you know, Mary Ann has been our Ft. Worth EWGA president this year, and Terri has provided us with more help and support than any of us can even name through the years! We are, of course, happy for Mary Ann about her promotion to Colonel in the Air Force, but our chapter will never be the same without the two of them. Hope to see you at Boomer Jack's on 9/2!

Our chapter's First Annual Invitational Tournament will be held Monday, October 18, 2010, at The Golf Club at The Resort on Eagle Mountain Lake. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Rally For the Cure! You can register and pay online by clicking on the events calendar. Go to 10/18 and click, and it will take you to the registration and payment page. Cost is $105 per person if paid online, or $100 per person if paid by check to: EWGA c/o Marjorie Stanfield 3011 Oak Tree Lane Midlothian, TX 76065. All participants will receive a goody bag, golf, and a great catered buffet following play! This year's tournament sponsor is USMD Hospitals in Fort Worth and Arlington.

Congratulations to all who participated in the EWGA Semi-finals at Bridlewood on 7/24. The course was in great condition and it was nice to see our friends from other chapters in our section

Ft. Worth has 3 members who will advance to the National Championship at Lake Geneva 10/1-2:

Janet Case - 1st low gross in first flight. This was a hard-fought battle for Janet, as she had to participate in a sudden death playoff against Terry Kronung from Austin!

Marilyn Weiss - 1st low net in second flight.

Cheryl McCally - 1st low gross in fourth flight.

While they are the only three who advance to Nationals, Ft. Worth made a very good showing with the following 2nd and 3rd place winners:

Susan Van Riper - 2nd low net in first flight. She actually tied for 1st low net, but a scorecard playoff edged her out of first place.

Mary Ann Beldeszek - 3rd low net in third flight.

Scramble team consisting of Tara Dubose, Cindy Campbell, Ann Wright, and Marjorie Stanfield - 2nd place in scramble competition.

Our next golf event will be Saturday, September 11, at Pecan Valley. Format will be stroke or scramble. Early signup deadline is Wednesday, 9/1, and final deadline to register is Monday, September 6.

SLOW PLAY! Unacceptable! We do not want to be categorized as "those slow women". No one likes to feel rushed, but as we play at private clubs and move on into Chapter Championship, we have to be mindful of our pace. If we have an opportunity to play at a private club, and their members are slowed down by us, you can bet we won't be invited back. In many competitions, penalty strokes are actually assessed after slow play warnings. Form good habits, and this won't be a factor. Click on the Education tab above for some tips on keeping a good pace.
